Redux Contemporary Art Center produces 8 exhibitions per year in our two gallery spaces. A diverse range of risk-taking exhibitions are produced each year covering a wide range of topics through solo, two-person and group exhibitions. Often Redux operates as a project space inviting artists to produce original works on site through varying lengths of residency, while engaging and interacting with our local community though special classes and artist talks. All of our exhibitions are free and open to the public.

I am Two With Nature: Featuring the works of Cari Freno and Travis Graves

Artist Lectures: Friday August 6, 5pm
Opening Reception: Friday August 6, 6 - 9pm
On View: August 6 - September 4

Redux Contemporary Art Center is proud to present I am Two With Nature, featuring works by Cari Freno and Travis Graves. A lecture given by each artist will be held at Redux on Friday, August 6 at 5pm followed by an opening reception from 6-9pm. Admission is free. The opening reception on August 6 will be open to the public and will include free beverages and light hors d'oeuvres. Both artists are inspired and stimulated by nature.

Cari Freno's videos illustrate her sensuous encounters with nature in a public park environment. They evoke poignant qualities of life within the context of the natural and civilized world through an "experiential relationship fostering absurdly promiscuous behavior" in a tender spiritual attempt at self-actualization.Travis Graves sculptures explore nature through use of natural and recycled materials, which address notions of expectation and cultural attitudes as a metaphor for society's dependence and influence over nature. Through the use of counter weights and magnets, Graves sculptures mysteriously float in thin air and balance precariously on the edge. The way in which each artist encounters and reacts to nature is unconventional, but through distinctive approaches they each construct a relationship between nature and societal ideas and practices.
